As much as I like his casual wear, I put him in his uniform this time around. Because, you know, theres something about a man in uniform Anyway, I also thought I would be silly and draw in a picture of his daughter since hes almost always waving one around in the series anyway. Ah, hes such a family guy. How cute. ^_^

Im so much happier with this one. To repeat what I said before: Hughes is a pretty difficult subject to paint in a realistic style. But this time, I made it a point to NOT look at pictures from the anime or manga. And yeah, I was lazy and used the same background from the previous one. I liked it though!
Lt. Colonel Maes Hughes and Elycia Hughes are copyright Hiromu Arakawa.
Thats sweet And nicely drawn aswell! Funny haircut this guy has btw ^_^" I like this though! Alot! He might be in uniform but I do sorta think the painting radiates that casual side..like, hes not really with his mind at work but at home, the bg helps adding to that.
Funny you should say that, hon. Keep reading and you'll find that Hughes is rather casual on the job. Aside from flashing pictures of his daughter, he has no problem busting into Ed and Al's room and chatting it up with them. It's so funny seeing the reactions of the lesser officers too.
