Ishbal's Angel of Death

Still a mysterious and wicked character in the manga, the scarred-man from Ishbal seems to prey only on National Alchemists. At first glance, he is a perfect villain with extremely destructive powers and unwavering vengeance. But, like all of the characters in Hagaren, the more you learn about Scar’s bloody past the more you realize that he is not the cold, murdering bastard you initially thought he was.

Sketched and finished in Photoshop with references from the manga and a Hagaren fan/cosplay site.

For some reason, Scar was a lot easier on me than Colonel Mustang and Major Hughes. This could be because I actually had a photograph from a Hagaren cosplay fansite to use as a guide. So, uh, thanks Mr. Japanese guy who cosplayed Scar! He put a more “realistic” image of Scar in my head. Plus, he was standing in this cool pose. ^_^ I worked on this at the same time I worked on the Hughes piece. When I got frustrated with one, I would switch to the other.

Anyone who’s seen the series or read the manga will understand the simple, blood-spattered background.
